SCOPE OF SERVICE:
1 South is an in-patient unit, which primarily provides nursing care to patients over the age of 14 years with acute Neurological/Neurosurgical and minor Psychiatric concerns.

15 beds and 1 EMU bed = 16 beds

FREQUENT PROCEDURES/SERVICES/FUNCTIONS:
Lumbar Puncture
External Ventricular Drainage (EVD)
Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU: Continuous Video EEG Monitoring and Observation)
Medication Administration and Management.
Patient Assessment and Evaluation.
Patient/Family Education.
Tracheostomy Care.
Oxygen Therapy (With/without humidification)/Oximetry.
Diabetic Evaluation and Insulin Administration.
Surgical Drain Management.
Gastrostomy/Jejunostomy Tube Management and Feeding.
Skin Integrity Management.
Ongoing rehabilitation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Valid nursing license (RN) from either the United States or Canada
• Minimum of four years of recent experience at a large North American acute-care hospital, including one-year of current, full-time experience in a similar role in Neurosciences at a large North American acute-care hospital.
