Currently undergoing internal reconstruction, this unit will consists of a 5 bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit adjacent to pre operative and post operative recovery area.
The unit will receive (adult) patients requiring critical care in the immediate post operative period up to 48hrs post operative after which time they will either return to the ward or be transferred to the main MSICU. The unit will serve some post operative neuro cases, kidney transplants,and any other unstable post operative patient needing invasive hemodynamic monitoring, mechaical ventilation and other critical nursing and medical monitoring/interventions. Post-op cardiac cases and lung transplants are excluded as they transfer directly to CSICU.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and
- Current nursing license in Canada or the United States, and
- A minimum of six years current experience as a Registered Nurse, including a minimum of TWO years current experience as a Nurse Manager/Head Nurse in ICU in a large acute-care teaching hospital in North America.
