The Department of Oncology at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia provides the following services:
- Benign Hematology Service
- A Bone Marrow Transplantation Program
- Palliative Care and Home Health Care Service (more than 500 home visits weekly)
- A Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Program
- Radiation Oncology
The unit consists of 25 patient care rooms, all single occupancy with Hepa filtering under positive pressure. Patients are admitted under Medical Oncology, Hematology, Palliative Care and Radiation Oncology services. The unit carries out, on average, 1 BMT case per month.
All staff are required to be certified in the administration of Chemotherapy, training and education is provided by the unit Nurse Educator. The unit has a total of 45 staff from Patient Care Assistant to Registered Nurses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Nursing or diploma in nursing
- Valid nursing (RN) license from either the United States or Canada
- A minimum of Two years current, uninterrupted experience in oncology, working in a mid- to large-sized acute-care hospital in North America.
- The hospital will also consider applicants who have Three - Four years current experience working on a medical ward - and who are interested in training into oncology.
