The Internal Medicine section is staffed with six full-time consultants and one as joint appointment with Research Centre. and three full-time assistants. Other members include Clinical Pharmacist Health Educator Registrar and a Data Collector for our two registries We cover a total of 15 clinics per week 6 General Internal Medicine. 4 protocol and 4 anticoagulation clinics. The inpatient service covers 8 + 2 floating + 2 emergency beds for a total of 12 beds.

A large percentage of the admissions are patients presenting to the Emergency Medical Service with acute medical problems. The department also covers acute admissions of VIP patients to D-4 or D-2 and follow several chronicpatients on D-4. some of them are long-term patients.  The section also has its share from elective/emergency admission through the hospital electronic referral system.  The department also admit diagnostic challenges, such as fever or unknown origin, unexplained weight loss, generalized lymphadenopathy, organomegaly, anemias, etc.

Requirements:

• American Boards or Canadian FRCPC in a medical speciality/subspecialty
• A minimum of ten years post-specialty certification experience in North America, including a minimum of three years of experience as a department head
